speakup debian sid update?

I had an update connected to speakup and the kernel packages on debian sid 
April 13, 2009 which had a conflict that had to be resolved and allowed 
the system to take the first choice.  That wasn't correct.  When I 
rebooted the system all was silence.  I ended up reinstalling debian to 
clear that problem.  Maybe yasr or emacspeak should also be availablee as 
back out systems to cover this problem in future.
