speechd-up splitting text strings

For the record we have noted the same problem with speechd_up 0.4 and
speech-dispatcher-0.6.6 using TTSynth. While there is some of this
behavior with our Speakup Connector for TTSynth, the problem is much
worse with speechd_up.
