speechd-up splitting text strings

Does this word splitting only happen when a word wraps around the end
of a screen line?  If it happens with standard screen output but not
with full screen review it might be a general speakup bug rather than
a soft synth problem.  I remember seeing something like this a long
time ago but can't recall seeing it recently.  OTOH, I may just be
using my system in a way that doesn't emphasize the problem if it's
there.  More specific feedback would be useful.
