Ot, getting win xp working with a samba printer

Have you looked at what is being reported by the my network. If samba is
reporting the printer, you will see in my network. This will help you
add the printer to your pc.

BTW: there is some documentation on how to add printers in the cups
documentation that explains how to do what you are attempting to do. 

I guess the question is, are you using cups?
