what are basteel and sad?  Can you explain any advantages to having a mixed
distrobution?  This sort of thing with mixing versions has messed me up before.
also, if you run apt-setup it will automatically include the merrors for
security.  It will not include the non-free, non-us and the contrib sections.
Any who is running the iso, I'd take a good look at your apt.sources list and
make sure it has the version, /stable /testing /unstable, that you want because
mine was really strange to begin with.
