Boot nuke

This brings up an interesting point, doesn't the installation of linux on to a
partician formerly used by another opperating system remove data from the
partician? df shows 8 gigs total space and explorer showed the same amount when
it was a windows system.

Dban, or darik's boot nuke is a hard drive sanitizer. It whipes a disk
several times and totally makes sure that you can not recover old data.
I believes it passes like six to 8 times over the disk with 0's. and
sadly I know there are other apps that can do this but dban is the only
thing the state says we could use.

Also, all I am wondering is can we use like the lt boot disk and then
when it asks for a boot disk if we could stick in the dban start up disk
and if it will boot into it? Or would I have to patch the speakup into
the original floppy start up disk of dban into the kernal?
