well as far as flite and festival there are some slackware pkgs all ready
do a google search for flite tgz slackware package
you will find a result from a list or a site from a blind person i forget who giving a link to his ftp site to download flite
this flite package will work with speech-dispatchur and is easier than trying to compile it
