recording cd's on a 2.6 kernel

The only thing I can think of is that you need a newer version of
cdrecord. For me, cdrecord --version reports:

Cdrecord-Clone 2.01 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2004 Jörg
Schilling

With my version of cdrecord, I can use dev=/dev/hdd with no ide-scsi
emulation, and everything works just fine.
