ram question

I've tried the 2 128 modules together without the 256 module, and the
full size of the memory is reported in this case.

I plan to grab a 128 module tomorrow out of one of my other boxes,
which doesn't have ram issues, and substitute that module for each of
the current 128 modules, on the off chance that one of them is bad, in
that it works fine alone or with another 128 module, but not with the
256 module for whatever reason. It's worth a try.

As for one of the dimm sockets being bad, I've thought of that
possibility, but have excluded it. Keep in mind that I tested the ram
in all 3 possible combinations, as well as individually. If a dimm
socket was bad, then the individual chip in that socket wouldn't get
fully recognized. Also, say that a bad socket held a 128 module, in
which case I would have seen a smaller size of 64 mb, as opposed to
seeing a smaller size of 128 mb, assuming that the 256 module was in
the bad socket.

If what I'm planning to try tomorrow fails, then I'll stick all 3
chips into another box, and see if it recognizes them all, though this
other board is a year and a half old, as opposed to the server's board
being 3 and a half years old, which could make a difference.
