Hmm. I'm interetsed in this subject as well. Were the wires in the 
actual cable separated? If so, how did you know what to pair each wire 
with to achieve the correct result? Did you have different tones 
generated for each section of the plug you tried to connect to? I don't 
see how you would have done it that way, assuming of course that that's 
how you did it.
