delayed or timed recording

Actually, if you're using Mplayer...perhaps Speakup was on and your synth was echoing Mplayer's status messages. After that goes on for a while Mplayer will stop playing, and the only way to 
resume paying is to hit numpad enter. Either that or do what I usually do...Turn Speakup off. What you could do, is write a little script that would have mplayer connect to your station, and 
then start arecording to a file (making sure Speakup is off before leaving it to do its thing). Or did you perhaps have Speakup off already the last time you did it and said problem occured?
