clearing up about packages

Hello.  Thought I should clear up what I wrote about in my last message.  A 
couple days ago I downloaded the file
RealPlayer-8.0-1.i386.rpm
It was downloaded to my computer when I was logged in as the user, but not 
as root.  However, after getting the file I logged in as root, and ran the 
rpm to install this package.  Did I follow the correct procedure?

Also, I heard that the
trplayer-1.2.0-1.i386.rpm
  should be downloaded.  Where should the trplayer file be placed?  Thanks.
