checkout script problem

Hi,

when I run the checkout script It never prompts me to hit return, it just says that I've used an empty password and to try cvs login and use a password.

according to the docs and what Kirk and others have told me you start the script, hit enter and it will prompt you for a password.  My problem is I never get prompted, it just goes a head and tries to login and gets the 
authorisation message.
