install complete, but boot disk don't work

Jim:

What's telling linux what speech synthesizer you have? You need to have 
specified that somewhere if you are going to hear speech. The fact that 
you did it to get the install started isn't going to be remembered. That 
command is regarded as temporary.

Fortunately, a very similar command should help fix things. Try:

vmlinuz speakup_synth=[your.synth.keyword]

obviously replacing [your.synth.keyword] with the appropriate 
designator--ltlk for the litetalk, etc.

When do you do this? Quite the same way as with the install--when the boot 
disk pauses.

PS: When you get tired of doing this by hand, we can talk about 
streamlining it. You really should, it's a lot easier on you.

PSS: There's no such thing as a D:> drive in linux. To paraphrase The 
Borg: "This is not a linux designation."
