Hi,
Codi, do you not already run Ubuntu with orca?
If so, Just make sure that you have speech-dispatcher installed from a
gnom terminal.
For speakup to work you need speech-dispatcher, a synth like espeak,
speech_dup and the speakup stuff which is already in the kernel.
To activate speakup when you use software speech, you do not run speakup,
but speechd_up.
You can run speechd_up once you know that speech-dispatcher is running.
You can do all of this from a gnome terminal except running speechd_up
which you do from the console.
