Debian upgrade to Jessie

Tony,
Thanks, I'll keep all that in mind.
As I think I understand, the newer kernels have a problem with serial ports,
not internal hardware synths. I'm not enthusiastic about upgrading without
doing the entire thing, beyond my capabilities.
