Looking for good, cheap USB "sound card" for Linux

Hi,
I am looking for a good, meaning well-supported under Linux for microphone 
input and audio output, USB sound device.
I have a system-on-chip here with poor sound support, no working input 
etc.
I am at this stage not looking for a head set, but rather a "sound card" 
with jacks for speakers and microphone/line-in.
Any suggestions welcome.
