SPeakup-enabled versions of Linux that can run on Apple Macs?

Hi folks.
This is a combination hardware/software related question, with Speakup
being the main key.
Since Apple uses Intel processors, and I'd think that Linux can
support most of the hardware, are there any versions of Linux (with
Speakup) that can run on the Mac to anyone's knoledge?
Simply curious as to if this is possible.
Has anyone ran Linux (and I don't mean a VM ) on a Mac?
