Speakup on Debian 6.0 "squeeze"

type uname-r.
If your kernel is higher than 2.6.38 (I believe is when speakup got
included), you just need espeakup. If your kernel however is lower than
2.6.38, you will need to build the modules yourself (which is a trivial
process. I'll explain it below).
First, grab the speakup package from linux-speakup.org, and untar it in
/usr/src
switch to the speakup/src directory, type make, then make modules_install.
If you get errors through make, you will probably need to install kernel
headers:
apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r)
