alsa version on arch linux

Several people have mentioned that the alsa version on a standard arch
linux system is currently 1.0.24, and yet my system tells me this:

cat /proc/asound/version
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.23.

I'm curious how one gets to 1.0.24 on arch linux? Ideas welcome
