You're right. I believe I did make an error in my message. I do 
apologize for the confusion.

The correct line to change is the resample-method directive. It should read:

resample-method=src-sinc-best-quality

The other things are correct, and on my system, speechd is working 
perfectly. See the forum thread at

for more details about the problem and the corrections I used.

Another thing that may explain why you are still having problems: are 
you running speechd in user mode or as a system daemon? I am running in 
user mode, and am having no problems, but I haven't tried running it 
system wide, so I don't know if the corrections I found will work in 
system mode.
