The exception messages I'm hearing aren't captured in dmesg's output.  I 
thought everything ought to go there but this isn't happening.  One thing 
I'm hearing throughout the exception messages is what appears to be a 
complaint that the hard drive isn't scsi, which is correct, it's an ide 
drive and when I look at it on the system afterwards it's being identifed 
as a scsi drive though.
