speakup fails to compile under karmic

Hi all,
Here's a heads-up about speakup and ubuntu karmic.  Speakup fails to 
compile under their 2.6.31x kernel.  Here is the output of:
make KERNELDIR=/lib/modules/2.6.31-4-generic/build

Perhaps it is too early in the 2.6.31x testing cycle to be alarmed about 
this, but I thought to post it anyway in case it does matter to us.
