arch linux build tools

Hello,
I'm enjoying the speakup arch linux installer.  One nice thing I 
discovered is that the upgrade doesn't leave the old kernel versions in 
your /boot directory and create needless entries in you menu.lst file.

How do I install tools to build software?  Is there a generic group name 
or do I need to install gcc, make and whatever else I need separately.
