Referring to your usage of rsync under Windows; be aware of the following:

NTFS stores different time stamps with different precision than those stored 
under Linux, not all these attributes will be retained.
Also rsync will not store or restore nt acls if your storage network share 
is samba without special support on the Linux side.
the above is not important if it is only the files you wish to preserve.
