getting mail working correctly

Hello,
I'm trying to get it so that my mail will forward to my personal email 
address, rather than staying on the system.
I'm not totally sure how to do this; I've tried with postfix and added my 
email to the aliases, and now I'm trying with exim. I haven't gotten 
anywhere though
