Installing Speakup on Gentoo

I have gentoo and installed speakup about the 20th of February. Now I
noticed that Kirk commented out speakup_serial_in (or a name close to
that). Now does this mean that the readalldoc will no longer work, or
is this being done some other way? Also, if I want to install the new
version in the same kernel, do I just run the install script again?

Thanks.
