Which port number have you configured at your speechd.conf file? I haven't got the machine on the network at the moment so I can't double check. It's the default port number as provided by debian unstable Sid / Lenny. But it's not complaining about the port but the address which surely is 127.0.0.1. I've been advised to check this out. Gena
