That's correct for the short term, but if gdm gets upgraded, it's
going to put that link back in there, and you'll have gdm starting
again in runlevel 3. To make this permanent across upgrades of gdm,
and keep gdm from starting in runlevel 3, even after upgrades of gdm, what you want to do instead
is:
mv /etc/rc3.d/S21gdm /etc/rc3.d/K21gdm
