Debian install with Software Speech?

Hiya,
    I have to wonder if there is anybody around here who has in fact done 
this, and if so what they did exactly?  The steps during grml-debootstrap 
seem simple enough: I'd guess the tough part would be managing software 
speech itself after that.
Any advice?
