fedora core question

Hi, I have not reinstalled my fedora core 3 with speakup because I am 
afraid that as soon as I get it working another newer version will be 
released.  Do you think it is a good idea to reinstall it or should I 
get another distrobution?  I would really like to see fedora core 5 
modified with speakup.
