I use a program called winscp. Runs on your windows machine and has the
Linux box in one window and your windows machine in the other one. Lets
you copy, rename, edit and so forth. You can tell the program what editor
to yuse. If I want to edit a file on my Linux box, I just highlight it,
hit the appropriate function key and it is moved to my temp directory and
opened up in my editor of choice. Window--eyes works great as you can use
notepad, ultraedit, or whatever. When you're done, just save the file and
it is saved back on the Linux box with permissions in tact.
