You will need to change the EDITOR environment variable in either .bash_profile
for yourself or /etc/profile system-wide if you are running Bash as your shell.
This will do it.

export EDITOR=nano

If you run zsh as I do, you would put the same line in ~/.zprofile for yourself
or /etc/zsh/zprofile system-wide.

Sorry.  Not sure about tcsh or any others.
