ESpeak Continuously Dying

Hello all,

This may be more of a Speechd-Up/Speech-Dispatcher problem than an
ESpeak one.  When I use ESpeak as my synth with Speakup and
Speech-Dispatcher, it constantly dies and I have to keep restarting it
with:
killall speechd-up
speechd-up
Also, it pauses and chops up at times and slows down.  Any ideas about
this?
