Elinks and Newer Spider Monkey

I heard someone mention a new version of Spider Monkey and attempting to
link it up with elinks.  Has there been any improvement in the java
support for elinks with this newer version? Am I still gonna get those
damned "harmless buttons" with some of the java controls?  Bottom line:
is it worth my time to upgrade?
