ot, the streamer program that comes with xawtv

Hi all.

I have recently tried to record tv using the streamer application that
comes with xawtv. A sighted friend of mine told me that everything
looks good, except for the color, he says the recording is in black
and white. He says that if there is some red for example, he can see
that that part of the picture is more redish then the rest, but that
the picture is still in black and white, like on a 60's tv set. 

I've done some googling on this, and have gone through the xawtv and
streamer docs, but so far no luck. I know that most of us probably
don't record the video off tv stations in gnu/linux, but I thought I'd
ask this, in case anyone does do so, and has run into this issue.
