lynx question

That is similar how to how I have been doing it when I had proftpd.  Except 
I could not get it to allow me to upload unless I logged in as one of my 
users, and when I did that, I only had two files, like bashsomething.
which were in the folder with my Linux username.
So I put files there and used the MV command to put them in my FTP folders.
But with vsftpd, I have messed the conf file to the point that I need to 
start from a good file, and I cannot log in in windows.
So if this lynx thing works, I will be good to go, and I better save a 
good-working conf file for future use.
I can't believe I did not do that from the start.
I always did that in windows with batch files, and ini files.

I've never heard of cygwin; I'll have to check that out. When I want to
transfer files from the windows box to the linux box, I just copy the
desired file to my clipboard, then use internet explorer to get to my ftp
server's "incoming" directory, then paste / upload the file there. Then I go
onto the linux box to change the ownership, permissions, etc. as needed. I
do have ftp voyager on the windows box, but don't use it all that often.
Actually, what I need to do is to set up samba and learn it, but that's a
project for another day.
