Software DEC Talk and Speechd_Up

Is anyone successfully using software DEC Talk with Speakup? If so,
would you mind sharing your configuration and any advice on setting it
up?

I have flite working, but would like to use either Cepstral or software
DEC Talk. I've tried simply editing
/usr/local/etc/speech-dispatcher/speechd.conf to point to
dtk-generic.conf, but that is not doing it.
