Kernel Compilation Successful!

OK, then, I guess it does pay to look through more of the options. *sigh*
now it's not finding my SB Live! I get two fatal errors at boot-time about
OSS, but I thought I could disregard these bc I installed ALSA. I didn't
have OSS compiled into the kernel. I also get a message about how there
was no state or something found and that I need to unmute settings in
Alsamixer. When I type alsamixer, I get:
function snd_ctl_open failed, default. no such device
