a question about fedora core downloads

If I may add something.

It seems like the downloads are capped. I start out with a moderate, if not
excellent, speed of around 107kb/s, it quickly then halves and halves again
to around 27.5 from around 50, then it sometimes halves again ...

Take care,
Sina

This question is answered in the Installation HOWTO. Briefly, you cannot mix
versions.

OK. I guess I can make the HOWTO even more precise. You may not mix either
editions of the Speakup Modified, nor may you mix Speakup Modified iso
images with iso images from stock Fedora releases.

The reason is simple. The packages contained in the iso images are not in
the same place, and many are upgraded. There has been almost one gigabyte of
updated files since the release of Fedora Core 3 in November, for example.
Stock Fedora does not include those updates, but the Speakup Modified does
include them.

I'm sorry you're seeing bad download times. This is a known problem, and we
are working on it. However, don't expect a fix in days. It will take weeks
at best.

If Linux can't solve your computing problem, you need a different problem.
