In Windows, perhaps, but in Linux, they are treated as totally different 
devices.  They start at /dev/ttyUSB0, and go up from their.  In Windows, 
the converter gets assigned a com port.  In the case of the Keyspan, it 
didn't get an IRQ, at least not that I could find.  In any case, it's just 
one of many options.
