general news reader question

Dan,

I'm surprised trn would even work on verizon.net.  I get an unknown 
response 480 back from news.verizon.net when trying to use it.  I did 
manage though to get rtin working.  You might want if using rtin to roll 
yourself a .newsauth file since that makes logging onto news servers 
quicker.  man 5 tin has the info on that file and it's rather well burried 
on that page.
