ouput jibberish from speakup while listening to egoplay

Hi all:
While listening to egoplay using ogg123 on tty1 and leaving tty2 open for 
other stuff, I heard something I wanted to know the album title, so I 
alt-f1ed to tty1 and got jibberish as output.  Commands seem to work fine, 
but the only way I could fix it was to reboot the box.  Is that the only 
way?
