system randomly reboots during Debian installation using speakup-enabled NetInst image

Hi Chris:  What is the hardware in this box?  It sounds like either
bad memory or bios, or you have hardware which is not part of the
standard linux kernel in the distribution.  Is this a new machine?
There are loads of questions I have because you haven't really
provided any information.
