weird comsat error

Hi all. I'm trying to get biff to notify me of incoming mail, not that I 
will use it right away but there are certain situations where this would 
be nice. Whenever I run comsat, i get the following message: comsat: 
getsockname: Socket operation on non-socket

Isn't comsat supposed to bind to the local loopback interface? Beacuse 
if so according to strace output its not doing so. Anyone know why I am 
getting that message and possibly how to fix it? Thanks!
