The *best* solution is to use vi, but that's another issue for another
day. *smile* You can use the justify command to fix the line lengths of
all the lines of the paragraph you're in. That's control-j. Also the -r
command line option when running nano lets you specify how long you want
lines to be. So were I using nano for this message I would have used

set editor="nano -r72"
