checking out speakup from cvs

Hi all.

I'm trying to check out speakup from cvs, but am getting the
following.

Patching version v26
CVSROOT not set.  Enter it below.  Hit enter for anonymous.

CVS password:
cvs server: cannot find module `speakup' - ignored
cvs [checkout aborted]: cannot expand modules

What gives?
