Help - slow performance on a Toshiba laptop

I'll have to check on the multicount setting.  I do have the drive set to
spin down after one minutes of inactivity but it does not spin down unless
the system is just sitting there.

I'll have to play with the dma setting--seems to me hdparm wouldn't let me
set one.
