Last night I burned the KNOPPIX_v3-2-2003-07-26-EN-speakup.iso" to an
80 Minute CDR andd tested it out. It works great. I never knew how
much information I have lost. I guess it is time to go to the how to's
and start learning. One of these days I guess I will have to reformat
my IBM ThinkPad 390E's hard drive and make it my linux machine. I did
remember to shutdown with "shutdown -h now".

I was thinking if it was possible to have Speakup run with a software
synth and include it in the kernel. So I do not have to keep typeing
"knoppix 2 speakup_synth=dectlk" all the time at the boot prompt. Are
these two things possible? If so, how do I do them? I am a newbie to
all this, so instructions please. I guess I will copy the CD onto my
hard drive to do the modifications and burn a new CD later.
