IP address

You are not so limited during an installation. Notice that you have
multiple consoles available during an installation. I believe most
distros provide that. I know Fedora does.

In fedora:

Console 1 is the installation screens
Console 2 is an ash prompt
Consoles 3 and 4 provide logging data useful when there are problems.
